Spring 2024 – Doty Updates
We were pleased to have seen some of you over the last year and we are looking forward to seeing more of you at the ENC - and telling you about the exciting advances we have made. The road to solid state DNP includes The Ultra Low Temperature (ULT) Probe and significant advances in THz waveguides and Bidirectional overmoded THz couplers. We’re excited about the progress. We are happy to have added 3 new employees. Left to right Dylan Harrell, Physicist; Jacob Martin, ...
Rat Spinal Cord Imaging on Unique Imaging Coils
A customer contacted us with a request to build custom coils for their studies on rat spinal cord, both in vivo and ex vivo, motivated by performance issues related to RF homogeneity and shielding exhibited in current OEM coils. A quadrature volume coil with 56 mm ID was constructed for the in vivo imaging (on awake or mildly anesthetized rats), and was utilized at the study onset. The volume coil’s excellent sensitivity made it possible to generate high resolution ...
A Large Volume 20 mm Liquids NMR Probe
Doty Scientific recently delivered a narrow bore liquids NMR probe with a 20 mm sample volume for use in a 400 MHz narrow bore system. Unique Liquids Probes Narrow Bore or Wide Bore. 5 mm to 20 mm sample options Extended Temperature (XVT) to +300 oC - with sample size 5 mm Many tuning options: H/X/lock, H-F/X/lock, H/C/N/lock, H/F/X/lock.
An 1H/129Xe 9.4T Rat Imaging Coil
Flexible designs can be customized for your application and MR system. Efficient, easy to tune and match over a broad range of sample loadings. Channels can be used sequentially, or simultaneously if decoupling is needed. Robust design, mechanically stable .
We hope to See You at ENC or ISMRM
ENC (April 24-29) and ISMRM (May 7-12) are fast approaching. We are excited to attend these conferences in person. It seems so long since we met face to face. For those coming to the ENC in Orlando, Florida, USA, come by Suite Magnolia C, Sunday through Wednesday evening from 7:00 to 11:00 PM. (And yes, there will be ice cream, including one non-dairy sorbet.) For those attending ISMRM in London, come by and see us in Booth D32. If you missed ...
Some Brief Comments on the Source of Artifact Suppression in NMR Spectroscopy
By Paul D. Ellis, Ph.D. The intent of this discussion is to bring clarity to some outstanding efforts to remove unwanted signals from an NMR spectrum. There appears to be some confusion relative to the origin of artifact suppression methods by which artifacts can be removed from an NMR spectrum be it from liquid or solid samples. This confusion may be mostly amongst young investigators, who are younger than the original research. To place this comment on an age scale, the original ...
Doty Scientific is looking to fill the following positions:
Doty Scientific is looking to fill the following positions: NMR Scientist/ Engineer. The successful candidate is expected to have a PhD in chemistry, physics, electrical engineering, or related, and experience with modern high-field NMR methods and associated equipment. Studies or experience in Dynamic Nuclear Polarization (DNP) is highly desirable. Responsibilities will include setting up and running NMR experiments using state-of-the-art NMR probes and communicating their effectiveness. The work will include testing of products, demonstration of new capabilities, customer service, product development, and ...
The ENC 2021 Doty Webinar
The 2021 ENC was a Virtual Conference. We were disappointed that we were unable to see our friends in person. We were, however, pleased to present a webinar at the virtual conference. The slides for that webinar are available below. Click on the section links Over-view, In More Detail, and Product Development, to see view the slides. Over-view: Laura Holte, Ph.D NMR ...
Waveguide Paper Published
We at Doty have been investigating various ways by which a probe designer can deliver millimeter waves (mmw) efficiently to the sample in a magic angle spinning probe once the mmw have arrived at the probe. A paper summarizing these efforts has recently appeared in the JMRO, i.e. F. David Doty, Glenn N. Doty, John P. Staab, Yuriy Sizyuk, and Paul D.Ellis, “New Insights from Broadband Simulations into Small Over-moded Smooth and Corrugated Terahertz ...
Results: 1H/19F MRI Imaging
A Simple-tune Preclinical 19F RF Volume Coil Efficient, easy to tune and match over a broad range of sample loading. Each channel for TxRx and linearly polarized. For observe / decouple - with both channels used simultaneously. For interleaved acquisitions - with each channel used sequentially. Robust design and mechanical stability Pictured is a Doty 1H/19F Dual Frequency 32 mm Litzcage module. Shown with user incorporated animal bed. Photo courtesy of Friedrich-Schiller Univ., Jena, ...
